Where is the German Cockroach From?
The German cockroach probably originated in Southeast Asia, and it has spread all over the world since. It is not entirely clear where it got its name, but it is thought to be from Germany out of spite, although it has also been called the Russian Roach or the French Roach. Regardless of where it came from, it can get out of control quickly, so it is important to control them as soon as they infest your home.
The German cockroach is most likely to have originated in limestone caves in Borneo. It is believed that this type of cave provides a consistent climate for Blattella species. This climate is a good one for storing peppercorns, which is why these caves are popular for spice trading. The climate in the caves also provides protection from pirates, which was important when the peppercorns were traded around the world.
The German cockroach is omnivorous, meaning that it eats anything it can get its hands on. It feeds on a variety of things, including meat, pet food, and sugars. It will also eat the legs and wings of other cockroaches. Fortunately, there are various German cockroach control products available on the market that will rid your home of these pesky insects.
The German cockroach has two developmental stages: the nymphal stage and the adult stage. The nymph stage begins when the egg hatches and ends with the emergence of the adult. The nymphs are dark brown to black and lack wings. They develop by molting five to six times before they emerge as adults. This period between molts is known as an instar. After the final molt, they emerge as fully developed adults.
