How to Differentiate Between the Female and Male Cockroach
If you want to differentiate between the female and the male cockroach, you can look for a couple of differences. One of them is the shape of the antennae. Female cockroaches lack anal styles, while males have a thread-like anal structure called anal cerci. You can also look for antennae and anal styles.
Another difference between the sexes is size. Female cockroaches are larger and more dominant than male roaches. In addition, they are more likely to cluster together for protection from male suitors. They may also gather in larger numbers to deflect male attention.
Cockroaches can be found throughout the home, though they tend to congregate in moist, dark areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. Despite their nocturnal habits, the American cockroach is also common outdoors in yards and around trash cans. If you see these insects, be sure to clean the area.
When it comes to the appearance of a cockroach, the gender of the animal will tell you whether it’s a male or a female. The male has more wings than the female, and its abdomen is wider than its body. The female has a thicker body and rounded bottom, indicating that she is a female.
A female Blatta orientalis produces between one and eighteen red/brown egg cases. Each egg case is approximately one centimeter long and contains fourteen to sixteen eggs. The female will carry these eggs for about 12 to five days before they hatch. The egg cases must be carefully placed where they are safe.
