How Come Cockroaches Don’t Die Easily?
Cockroaches are very tough to kill. Unlike some other pests, which can be easily destroyed with a rolled up newspaper, cockroaches can be resistant to insecticides and survive for up to 100 days. This may seem surprising, but it is true. Cockroaches develop resistance to insecticides after just one generation.
Cockroaches are bulky creatures with only six legs. This design enables them to hide in crevices and squeeze into cracks. It also gives them a high center of gravity, which allows them to carry their weight around their backs. However, they often cannot right themselves when they are near death, and they fall over.
The most common reason for a cockroach’s survival is that they are not designed to die easily. In the wild, cockroaches are prey for predators, but in your home, they are safe from these animals. In fact, the biggest roach in the world lives in South America. It can grow to six inches in length and a one foot wingspan.
The reason that cockroaches don’t die is because their brains do not need much food. This enables them to hide from predators for up to a month. Without a head, a cockroach would starve to death. Scientists studied this by decapitating test roaches. The test roaches could still move their antennae, but it was unclear if it was possible for them to continue living without their head.
