Which States Have Bed Bugs?
The number of bedbug infestations in U.S. cities is increasing every year, and the problem is more severe in some places than others. The following is a list of the top 50 most infested cities in the country, according to Terminix. The number of cases is based on data from Terminix branches nationwide collected from Jan. 1 to Aug. 20, 2021. According to Terminix’s Rick Cooper, bedbugs are most prevalent in cities and areas where humans spend a lot of time.
The survey showed that there are numerous ways to avoid bedbugs. A person should avoid staying in hotels, motels, and other places with poor sanitation. Infestations are most common in hotel rooms, public transportation, and retail stores. A person should also take precautions to avoid being exposed to bedbugs in his or her home.
Bedbugs can be easily transported from place to place through luggage, used furniture, and laundry. They are most common in nursing homes, hospitals, and hotels. People who travel a lot should avoid staying in these places. They may even be unaware of their presence until they have an infestation. If you have been bitten by a bedbug, make sure to document any bites. Most hotels will have a policy in place to document complaints from guests. If you find any bites, call the hotel and ask for a copy of the incident report.
Chicago is one of the most infested cities in the United States. The city receives nearly 48 million visitors each year, and has a massive transit system that carries around 1.7 million passengers per week. Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland round out the top three most infested cities in the country. Interestingly, the rankings change every year.
