Where Do Bed Bugs Keep Coming From?
If you’ve found bedbugs in your home, the first thing you should do is eliminate the sources of the infestation. This includes cleaning the bed with a stiff brush and removing any eggs they might have laid. You can also vacuum the areas where bedbugs hide. When you’re done, make sure to put the vacuum bag into a plastic bag and dispose of it outside.
The next area to check is upholstered furniture. You’ll want to look closely at the folds, seams, and skirts to see if there are bugs there. Sofas and recliners are common hot spots for bedbugs, so be sure to examine them closely. Using a flashlight will also help you find any of the bugs.
Changing rooms frequently is another way to keep bedbugs from reinfesting a room. Bedbugs are extremely efficient hitchhikers, so they can enter a home by hopping on luggage, clothing, and other items. They can also crawl into hidden spaces, like the inside of a wheelchair.
Heat is also an effective bed bug killer. Heat can kill the bugs on fabric, so be sure to wash and dry your fabrics with high heat. You can also dry your shoes in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes.
