When Do Bed Bugs Come Out?

If you have a large infestation, you can turn the lights on in the bedroom to discourage the insects from making their way to your bed.
Adult female bedbugs lay eggs in secluded areas, depositing one, two, or even hundreds of eggs over the course of their lives. The eggs are whitish and sticky when first laid, and hatch after a week at room temperature. The newly emerged bedbugs are about the size of a pinhead and shed their skin five times before they reach maturity.
Adult bedbugs are about 3/16 inches long, and have a flattened oval shape. Their coloration is similar to an apple seed, and they can be mistaken for other household insects. They do not fly, but they can quickly crawl over surfaces. If you see any bedbugs, you need to take action as soon as possible.
Bedbugs are active most often during the night, but they do come out during the day as well. They are not strictly nocturnal, so they will come out at anytime they find a source of food.
