When Are Bed Bugs Most Active?
Bedbugs are nocturnal creatures, so they’re more active at night. They feed in the dark when their hosts are not around and don’t attract attention. The ideal time to feed is before you go to bed, but they’ll also feed during the day if you let them.
Summer months are the best time to treat your bed with insecticides. Unlike cockroaches, bedbugs don’t hibernate and therefore are less active at cooler temperatures. In addition, summer vacations are often full of people traveling, so they’re more likely to bring bugs home with them.
While bedbugs can be found in many parts of the home, they are most active at night, when the temperature is warmer. They hide in crevices and joins of wood furniture and mattresses. During the day, you might see them in places like picture frames and baseboards. They can also be found in mattresses and linens.
Adult bedbugs are about three-sixteenths of an inch long. They look similar to a seed. During this stage of their life, they feed on blood. After a blood meal, they will become swollen and hard. This is how you can identify them. However, be careful because they can look very similar to other pests.
An infestation in a neighbouring property is a particularly challenging situation. Often, the bug population has spread through the structure of the building, making it impossible for a home owner to get rid of them without the proper pest control. Often, this can occur in apartments and blocks of flats.
