How to Treat Bedbugs
If you think you might have bedbugs, it’s important to know how to treat them. They’re flat, reddish brown, wingless insects that feed on the blood of humans and animals. They can survive for up to two months between feedings, so you should not keep a light on when you’re trying to sleep. While it may seem counterintuitive, keeping the lights on will not keep bedbugs away. If you notice them, you should consult a pest control professional or visit your health care provider.
Your employer should know about your infestation, as it can spread to other workplaces. Most larger companies have a formal policy to send anyone who has bed bugs home. If you do have bedbugs, you should not go to work or play in public for at least a few days to make sure that the bugs are not spread.
Another way to treat bedbugs is to remove them from your home. Bedbugs prefer to live in sleeping areas, but they can live in offices, public areas, and even movies. They do not need to form a colony to live, but they will gather together in places that are good hiding places.
You can also look for evidence by inspecting your couch. Inspect used furniture in your home, as well as your luggage. If you suspect bedbugs, you can even inspect your laundry room.
