How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs
If you notice an infestation, the first thing you need to do is find the source. Identifying the source is essential to effectively get rid of bedbugs. It may take more than one treatment to fully eliminate bedbugs. You may need to call in an expert to inspect your premises. After determining the source, you can start addressing the problem.
If you suspect bedbugs, you can treat the area with an insecticide or alcohol. Make sure to bag any personal belongings that may contain bedbugs. Also, you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove bedbugs and their eggs. After vacuuming, be sure to empty the bag outdoors.
Another method is to apply bed bug powder on the perimeter of the room and inside outlets. The powder will repel bed bugs, but be careful because sprays and electricity do not mix! If you have difficulty spreading residual insecticide powder, use a bellow duster to apply it to hard surfaces. Alternatively, you can use an old makeup brush to spread the powder.
If you suspect that bedbugs are present, you should check the mattress and any other furniture. Bedbugs can be quite hard to spot, and they hide in hidden crevices. They can live in immaculate homes as well as unkempt ones. In addition to hiding in bed frames, they can live in sofa cushions and furniture joints.
