How Often Bed Bugs Lay Eggs
The number of eggs laid by bedbugs depends on how often they feed on blood. When bedbugs have regular blood meals, they lay one to seven eggs per day. Between two and five days after the last blood meal, they will begin to lay eggs again. When the female bedbug has no blood meals for a period of time, they will stop egg-laying for two to five days.
Bedbug eggs can be difficult to see as they are typically white or off-white in color. They are hard to spot without a magnifying glass. Empty eggshells are also less shiny and flat than a full eggshell. Eggs can last from five to 10 days. Under ideal conditions, the population of bedbugs can double every 16 days.
Female bedbugs typically lay one to six eggs per day. The eggs are not easily removed because they are sticky and won’t roll away. They are also difficult to scratch off. If you notice bedbug eggs, immediately discard them or take them to a professional. There are several ways to kill these eggs, including DIY heat treatments and professional treatment.
