How High Can Bed Bugs Crawl?

Bed bugs are small insects that can travel great distances by crawling. Like ants, they can move at a speed of about one meter per minute. However, obstacles such as furniture and walls slow down their movements. This can cause them to hide and run away. To escape from their target, bedbugs can also jump from one surface to another.

When you notice these bugs, the first thing to do is to inspect your room. Start by emptying any nightstands and dressers. Then, carefully check the woodwork under them. Make sure to look for small crevices and cracks. Bedbugs can also hide in wall voids or wall outlets. Also, check the clothing in closets. Don’t forget to inspect book bindings as well.

Bedbugs live in furniture, carpets, walls, and ceilings. They can climb these surfaces because they have tiny ridges and indentations. However, they don’t spend too much time climbing. This is because smooth surfaces such as plastic and glass are too slippery for them.

Bedbugs are active mostly at night and prefer to hide near a human host. They will move long distances if they are near food. However, when temperatures go too high, they will become stressed and die off. If temperatures are too low, they may spread to other areas.
