Do Bed Bugs Go on Clothes?
It is a common misconception that bed bugs live on clothes. In reality, bed bugs can survive on cloth for up to a month and then move on to another piece of cloth. Fortunately, you can avoid this by washing your clothes immediately after being exposed to them. This will help you prevent a bed bug infestation.
When washing your clothes, make sure to sort them by category before using the washing machine. Separate them and place each pile in a large plastic bag before washing. You may want to use two plastic bags, one for each category, to prevent bedbugs from moving from one pile to the next. Also, remember to check washing instructions to make sure you use the correct wash and dry temperature.
After washing your clothing, make sure to remove all signs of infestation. You can use a laundry detergent that kills bedbugs. It does not need to be expensive or special. It can be ordinary washing up liquid or even generic laundry detergent. This will keep the bugs from moving and feeding on your clothing.
After washing, make sure that all clothes are dry before putting them back into the closet. If you find any bedbugs on your clothes, you can place them in a sealed plastic bag and store them in a secure place. Alternatively, you can place them in a garbage can outside the home.
