Can You Have Bed Bugs Without Blood Stains?
If you think you have bed bugs, the first thing you should do is check for blood stains. These tiny, dark red, smeared marks are caused by the bugs’ feeding. They are typically found near the foot of the bed or on the pillowcase. The space between the pillow and the case is the perfect place for these little creatures to hide.
Another sign of bedbug infestation is fecal spotting. This may not be obvious, but it is a common sign that you have bed bugs. It’s best to inspect any surfaces where you may see it, such as the sheets and bed linens. These stains will not easily come out, so it’s important to keep a close eye out for them. Additionally, bed bugs lay eggs. They usually lay one to seven eggs per day, which hatch within seven to 10 days. The eggs themselves are about 1 millimeter long and look like small grains of rice.
Besides the stains, you should also check for the smell of bedbug pheromones. They produce an unpleasant odor, so the smell of the bugs may be one of the first signs of bedbug infestation. Pheromones can be compared to the smell of mildew, rotting wood, and even feces.
