Bugs That Look Like Bed Bugs
There are many bugs that look like bed bugs, but there are some important differences. One key difference is color. While bed bugs are red or dark brown, bat bugs are whitish-tan or light brown. Both have long hairs, but bat bugs have longer ones than bed bugs. They are also less concave and are smaller.
Wood ants come from the woods and can live in your home. They are fast runners and chew on almost anything. Sometimes, they bite, but it is rare. Wood ants are very small, measuring just 1/8 of an inch in length. They can also live on electrical outlets. If you find them, you’ll want to get rid of them before they cause damage.
Bed bugs are small oval-shaped creatures without wings. Their body is brown, with wing pads that do not develop into wings. Adult bed bugs measure around four to five millimeters in length. Nymphs are hard to spot, but adults are easily spotted with the naked eye. They can be difficult to identify, but can be detected by a trained pest control professional.
The first step to controlling bed bug infestations is to clean the home as much as possible. This includes vacuuming, eliminating any unneeded furniture, and steaming any cracks or crevices. After doing this, you can use insecticides or other treatments that kill the bugs. If you decide to use chemicals, diatomaceous earth or boric acid are good options.
