Getting Rid of Ants in Your House

Getting rid of ants is a tricky task. There are several methods that you can try. Depending on the size and scope of the problem, you may need to hire a professional pest control service.

First, identify the type of ant that is causing the problem. Identifying the species will help you choose the most effective methods of control. For instance, if you see little black ants, these are scavengers, and should be treated with insecticide.

Second, clean up any spills that may have caused the problem. If you have a garbage bin, make sure to remove all the trash as soon as possible. If you have a kitchen sink, take out any food waste as soon as possible. This will help keep the ants from feasting on the food.

Third, wipe down any surfaces that have been affected by ants. This will help keep the ants from crawling back into the house.

Fourth, seal any entry points. This includes the baseboards and doors, as well as any other places that the ants may have entered. If you can, seal the holes with cement.

Last, but not least, do a good job of cleaning up. Getting rid of ants requires time, effort, and patience.

If you’re not sure what species of ants you have, contact your local university extension service. They can give you fact sheets on the various types of ants. They can also provide advice on getting rid of ant species.
